George H. Scheit, 88, 941 Leonard Dr., died Saturday, Dec. 7, 1996, at the Center of Care.

He was born April 22, 1908, in Lamar, Col, to Albert and Emma (Luedtke) Scheit. George moved with his family to Allen, Wis., as a child. He lived most of his life in Chippewa County.

He married Edith V. Pagenkopf Aug. 17, 1948, in Eau Claire at Epiphany Lutheran Church. They farmed in the town of Wheaton. George later was a mechanic for 17 years for Morrison Implement until retiring in 1973. George and Edith moved to Eau Claire in 1980.

As woodworking craftsman, George had many projects which included building 46 grandfather clocks. He was very fond of working in his vegetable and flower gardens.

George was an elder at Epiphany Lutheran Church for several years.

Survivors include his wife, Edith; two daughters, Diane (Gary) Riese of Fall Creek and Connie Sackett of Appleton; two granddaughters, Keelynn (Jeff) Manor and Shawnda (Jamie) Kaeding, both of Fall Creek; a grandson, Stephen Sackett of Appleton; a great-granddaughter, Karisa Manor of Fall Creek; a sister, Louis Hering of Eau Claire.

George was preceded in death by four brothers, Oscar, Carl, Eric and Conrad; two sisters, Gertrude Wangen and Hildegard Hagen.

Funeral services will be at 11 am, Wednesday at Epiphany Lutheran Church with Pastor Frederick C. Sauder officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Epiphany Lutheran Church Relocation Fund.

He was married to Edith Verdean PAGENKOPF (daughter of Leo G PAGENKOPF and Ruth WICK) on 17 Aug 1948 in Epithany Lutheran Church, Eau Claire, Eau Claire County, Wisconsin. Edith Verdean PAGENKOPF was born on 27 Dec 1926 in Town of Cleveland, Chippewa County, Wisconsin. She died on 30 May 2015 in Fall Creek Valley Care, Fall Creek, Eau Claire County, Wisconsin.

Edith V Scheit, age 88, of Fall Creek, passed away peacefully in her sleep with her daughter by her side on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Fall Creek Valley Care Center.

Edith was born on December 27, 1926 in Cornell to Leo and Winnie Pagenkopf. She attended high school in Elk Mound and later worked at the Luther Hospital and Schwan's meat packing plant. In 1948 Edith married George Scheit and they operated a turkey farm in the Town of Wheaton until 1962. They moved to Chippewa Falls until George retired from Morrison Implement in 1980. After George's retirement, they moved to Leonard Dr. in Eau Claire. George died in 1996 and Edith moved to Fall Creek in 1999 to live next to her daughter Dianne. Edith was also a member of St. James Trinity Lutheran church.

She is survived by daughters: Dianne ( Gary ) Riese of Fall Creek and Connie ( Gary ) Sagunsky of Appleton; her three wonderful grandchildren, whom she was very proud of: Keelynn ( Jeff ) Manor of Fall Creek, Shawnda ( Jamie ) Kaeding of Fall Creek and Stephen ( Jodi ) Sackett of Appleton; six wonderful great grandchildren: Karisa and Nathan Manor, Julia and Jacob Kaeding, Brianna and Cameron Sackett; sister Nancy Shafer of Altoona; and sister-in-law Mary Pagenkopg of Elk Mound; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was buried on 6 Jun 2015 in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire, Eau Claire County, Wisconsin. She was baptised in Epithany Lutheran Church, Eau Claire, Eau Claire County, Wisconsin. George Henry SCHEIT and Edith Verdean PAGENKOPF had the following children:
